Capella Hotel Group continues to strengthen its leadership team with the appointment of Pierre Chidiac as General Manager at Capella Nanjing. The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the Group, as Capella expands its footprint across Asia.

Pierre joins Capella Nanjing ahead of the property's highly anticipated opening in early 2027. Situated adjacent to Changjiang Road - the heart of a neighbourhood with more than 1,800 years of history - Capella Nanjing places guests within walking distance of some of the city's most iconic landmarks including the Presidential Palace. With more than 15 years of experience in hotel operations across China, Pierre most recently served as General Manager at MGallery Hotel Collection in Nanjing and has previously held leadership roles with Sofitel and Raffles hotels in China. Fluent in multiple languages including Mandarin and recognised for his people-first approach, Pierre will focus on elevating the guest experience and establishing the property as a compelling luxury address in the region.

Designed by David Chipperfield Architects Shanghai, the property weaves 185 guestrooms - including 30 heritage suites - into the historic fabric of Meiyuan Village alongside a 76-key residences project. At the centre stands a 360-year-old ginkgo tree, its canopy anchoring lush gardens that draw the city inward toward nature and The Living Room, the signature gathering space hallmark to every Capella property. Capella Nanjing marks the brand's third chapter in China, following Capella Shanghai and Capella Tufu Bay.

"Capella has grown into one of the world's most recognised luxury hospitality brands, and as we expand into bold new destinations, the calibre of leaders we attract is a testament to that ambition. Pierre brings something exceptional to Capella Nanjing - deep expertise, strong values, and a real understanding of what makes a guest experience truly memorable. We're delighted to have him leading one of our most exciting properties,” says Clive Edwards, Senior Vice President, Operations, Capella Hotel Group.
