Self-service wedding vows renewal location will cater to growing demand for micro-weddings
Responding to growing demand for 'micro-weddings' with few to no guests, Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences has created a ‘self-service’ wedding vows location where couples can share a hyper-private celebration without the assistance of a celebrant.

Believed to be a world first, the resort’s secret wedding venue can be found on a secluded beach, veiled by tropical foliage beside the glittering Indian Ocean. The private setting comprises a wooden wedding arch; a perfectly positioned phone stand, enabling couples to record or even live stream the occasion; and six rustic benches hewn from coconut trees for any guests who may be in attendance. Carved wooden panels provide a variation on the traditional wedding vows, specially adapted to be exchanged by the couples alone. The self-service sanctuary is equally suited to spontaneous couples inspired to renew on the spur of the moment, or to being swiftly adorned and augmented with decorations, Champagne, or a cake by Amilla’s events team.
“A marriage is an agreement between two people committed to growing together in a lifelong relationship. So what could be better than renewing your vows of love, commitment and trust in a beautiful private location; an unforgettable experience shared only between you and your partner?” says Events Manager of Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences, Suzy Ahmed. “The two sets of vows are engraved into wood, and each partner takes turns to read their part of the script. They can place their phone on the stand to record the vows, or surprise friends and family at home by live streaming it. The vows are Amilla-inspired; authentic and loving, but with a sense of playfulness.”
In addition to its new self-service wedding venue, Amilla offers a wide variety of celebrant-led renewal of vows options for parties of all sizes. Starting from USD1870++, renewal of vows packages can be tailored by the resort’s expert Events team to suit each individual couples’ preferences. About Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences
A large, verdant natural island in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences is an enchanting space for families, friends and couples to roam and play. Most of its 67 Villas and Residences are gracefully elevated over crystal clear waters, nestled among the treetops or hug the pristine shores; to venture through the island’s white sand fringe into its shaded heart reveals a surprisingly wild, green place – the inspiration for its organic garden-to-table concept. The resort’s Homemade@Amilla and Homegrown@Amilla initiatives are manifestations of a heartfelt commitment towards sustainability and resourcefulness. Indigenous ingredients - sea almonds, screwpines, countless coconuts, fragrant frangipani - are celebrated alongside the homemade, homegrown and homebrewed, bringing personality and vigour to nutritious, immunity-boosting menus. While not strictly a wellness resort, embracing dietary lifestyles is an intuitive part of Amilla’s Wellness Your Way, a fresh, holistic and highly customised approach to wellness that encompasses nutrition, mindfulness, movement and spa.
