EMMA RADUCANU TO HOST TENNIS CLINIC AT AMILLA MALDIVES THIS OCTOBER

This October, rising star of British tennis, Emma Raducanu, will become the latest Major-winning tennis champion to share her skills and pro tips with guests at Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences. During her time on the private island resort in Baa Atoll, from 25 October – 2 November, the former US Open women’s singles champion will treat lucky Amilla guests to a 60-minute tennis clinic at the resort’s jungle-clad, US Open-standard tennis courts.

Taking place on 27 October, the tennis clinic will see Emma share her top tips and expert knowledge with guests wanting to improve their game. She will also attend a meet-and-greet event with guests at the resort, and hopes to encourage even more people of all ages to play tennis. Emma commented, "I’m delighted to discover the Maldives for the first time and I would like to thank Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences for this opportunity. I will share my experience with the guests and have an amazing time there." The 19-year-old tennis star made history last year by becoming the first qualifier and youngest British player to win a Grand Slam title at the US Open. She was subsequently awarded WTA Newcomer of the Year. Having dominated on the courts, the inspirational young player even became a style icon, as the new face of Dior.

Organised in conjunction with LUX Tennis, operator of Amilla’s tennis activities, Emma’s is the latest in a long line of tennis masterclasses hosted by leading pros and former champions at Amilla, from former World No. 1s Angelique Kerber and Pat Rafter, to Olympic gold medallist Sasha Zverev and Davis Cup winner Viktor Troicki. A huge supporter of the sport, Amilla Maldives hosts visiting tennis pros regularly throughout the year, as well as a ‘resident pro’ on hand to coach resort guests. As the world’s first Inclucare-certified resort, Amilla also recently announced plans to extend the option to play on its courts to guests with disabilities too; wheelchair tennis star, Cisco Garcia, will visit Amilla Maldives at the end of September to help raise awareness of this initiative.

Azure Collection (azurecollection.com; 01244 322 770) can arrange a seven-night stay at Amilla Maldives from £5,695 per person - saving 30% on accommodation. The price is based on two adults sharing on bed & breakfast in a Sunset Water Villa, return economy flights with Qatar Airways and seaplane transfers. Valid for travel from 24 October to 24 November 2022.

About Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences

A large, verdant natural island in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences is an enchanting space for families, friends and couples to roam and play. Most of its 67 Villas and Residences are gracefully elevated over crystal clear waters, nestled among the treetops or hug the pristine shores; to venture through the island’s white sand fringe into its shaded heart reveals a surprisingly wild, green place – the inspiration for its organic garden-to-table concept. The resort’s Homemade@Amilla and Homegrown@Amilla initiatives are manifestations of a heartfelt commitment towards sustainability and resourcefulness. Indigenous ingredients - sea almonds, screwpines, countless coconuts, fragrant frangipani - are celebrated alongside the homemade, homegrown and homebrewed, bringing personality and vigour to nutritious, immunity-boosting menus. While not strictly a wellness resort, embracing dietary lifestyles is an intuitive part of Amilla’s Wellness Your Way, a fresh, holistic and highly customised approach to wellness that encompasses nutrition, mindfulness, movement and spa.
