SHOWTIME! AMILLA MALDIVES TO STAGE 18-DAY FESTIVE FIESTA OF THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE
'Island of Surprises’ will raise curtain on epic homage to the finest musicals on 20 December
Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences has announced Showtime at Amilla – a 16-day festive homage to musicals that will whisk merrymakers from the Maldives to London’s West End via Broadway and Hollywood. From Aladdin to The Wizard of Oz, Baa Atoll’s naturally lush private island resort will dazzle guests with evenings of star-studded performance and elegantly-themed dining, including headline acts from returning Amilla aficionados Pixie Lott and BBC Radio 1 legend DJ Scott Mills. The musical inspiration continues by day with theatrically-themed activities for all ages as well as al fresco adventures, a talent show extravaganza and a football camp by Premier League winner and former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager, Tim Sherwood.
From 22 December to 8 January 2023, the Showtime at Amilla programme brings a theatrical flourish to each day’s festivities, opening with an Aladdin-inspired day of princess and sultan facepainting, a ‘three wishes’ art class and genie cookie decoration, with an Arabic feast and fire show after dark. Boxing Day is a Grease megamix, including a Greased Lightnin’ paper boat race, Rock ‘n Roll pool party and T-Birds fire(less) dance class; while a New Year’s Eve of Hollywood glamour kicks off with a red-carpet cocktail party and gala dinner, followed by an ‘A Night at the Grammys’ show and after party. Amilla’s magical musical mystery tour also takes in A Star is Born, Cabaret, Footloose, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia, South Pacific, The Lion King and The Sound of Music – and of course, It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day respectively.

About Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences
A large, verdant natural island in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences is an enchanting space for families, friends and couples to roam and play. Most of its 67 Villas and Residences are gracefully elevated over crystal clear waters, nestled among the treetops or hug the pristine shores; to venture through the island’s white sand fringe into its shaded heart reveals a surprisingly wild, green place – the inspiration for its organic garden-to-table concept. The resort’s Homemade@Amilla and Homegrown@Amilla initiatives are manifestations of a heartfelt commitment towards sustainability and resourcefulness. Indigenous ingredients - sea almonds, screwpines, countless coconuts, fragrant frangipani - are celebrated alongside the homemade, homegrown and homebrewed, bringing personality and vigour to nutritious, immunity-boosting menus. While not strictly a wellness resort, embracing dietary lifestyles is an intuitive part of Amilla’s Wellness Your Way, a fresh, holistic and highly customised approach to wellness that encompasses nutrition, mindfulness, movement and spa.
